Dear readers,

I have just realised that all of our June magazine covers feature wings of some kind as a theme and all can in fact be seen this June!

Although the aeroplane featured on the Ringwood cover may not be around for too long and is a visitor only because of the current pandemic as it is delivering much needed NHS equipment to Hurn airport.

You may be lucky enough to spot the other two cover features in June along the Purbeck coast on a visit now we are allowed to go out on day trips. You will probably have to be really lucky to see any of the Purbeck puffins as there is only a tiny colony apparently.

But last June we spotted quite a few of the beautiful iridescent adonis blue butterflies as featured on the East Dorset cover along Peveril Point near Durlston. Which reminded me how much we enjoy the Durlston Castle cafe after a coastal walk and like all of you no doubt, hoping that it won’t be too much longer when all the cafes and tea shops are open again! It just seems that a walk or a bike ride without a reward of a coffee, a cake or a cream tea just isn’t right somehow!

Hopefully we won’t get a second wave of this awful virus as the lockdown is gradually eased.

We have had all sorts of virtual get togethers during the past few months – coffee morning, quiz nights, group chats, even choir practice, but let’s face it – you can’t really beat a good old fashioned hug from your loved ones which we all hope to be able to have very soon!
