Roundabout Ringwood December 2017

Dear readers,

Welcome to our Christmas edition of Roundabout Ringwood. This issue’s cover photo was taken last year during an afternoon’s bike ride on New Year’s Eve travelling south down the Bolderwood Ornamental Drive. The mist in the trees and the appearance of the sun created some really magical scenes!

Another magical location at this time of year in the Forest if you know it, is the Portuguese Fireplace near Lyndhurst where, on Christmas Eve, you may be lucky to see it adorned with traditional refreshments for Santa and even carrots for his reindeer!

Our Quirky Britain article on page 8 tells us that there are some places where Christmas lasts all year round with a growing trend for shops selling specialised festive goods and tree ornaments! Offerings such as fish, raccoons, elephants, sheep etc! I’ll just stick with the tree chocolates I think!

And on this subject, page 42 tells us how chocolate was discovered 4000 years ago and was originally a cold drink with aphrodisiac and magical mood – enhancing properties. So it hasn’t changed that much at all!

After all the festivities page 16 gives you the low down on some myths and magical-cures for the inevitable post Christmas colds and flu!

Don’t forget if you want to treat a loved one AND help local businesses, look in here first in the ‘Local Business Directory’ on page 50!

Finally my team and I would like to wish all our readers and advertisers old and new the very warmest of festive greetings for this Christmas and the New Year.
