Roundabout Verwood and Three Legged Cross October 2017

Dear readers,

Like me, are you still waiting for the Indian summer we were all promised after such a wet summer – which was also supposed to be a scorcher? I’m sure I read somewhere that the Met Office weather forecasters were sharing a nice ‘forecast accuracy’ £1million target bonus! Not for 2017 surely!

So forever the optimist I am now looking forward to a fantastic, colourful and lengthy Autumn display this year. Apparently the wet summer has helped trees to catch up which should produce a stunning Autumn display – albeit slightly later than normal – according to the Forestry Commission.

The last two weeks in October will be the best time so plan your country walks to locations like our cover photo accordingly.

Sadly our regular “Viewed From My Window” articles about rescued cats has finally come to an end since we have exhausted the current supply of marvellous and well written stories about Patricia’s efforts caring for the many stray cats she has ‘acquired’ over the years! I’m sure word has gone round the local cat population that she is a really soft touch and there’s always a meal and a nice soft bed on offer there!

I’ve really enjoyed all the highs and lows of her tales as I know many of our readers have and maybe we’ll be treated to the occasional feature in the future!

Finally I hope you manage to enjoy a few trips out into the country this Autumn before the clocks go back which is on 29th October at the end of Half Term – don’t forget!
