Ringwood Arts Centre – Entertainment a Big Success!

Ringwood-arts-centreMore than 200 people turned out for an entertaining Open Evening staged by the team behind the Ringwood Arts Centre project. The event, held at Greyfriars Community Centre, was held to say a big thank you to townsfolk and supporters of the Arts Centre who helped to raise funds so the ‘meaningful start’ could be completed in time to ensure planning permission for the project is fixed for the foreseeable future.

London-based professional acoustic duo Laurel Canyon – singer-songwriter Hannah Robinson from Ringwood and Scott McKeon who has played guitar for artists including Lana Del Ray and Tom Jones – provided classy entertainment, along with local all-girl singing quartet The Bobbies (in the photo above).

Virtual reality headsets were used for a tour of the proposed Arts Centre, offering panoramic 360° views of how the building will look, alongside an architectural scale model of the building and a ‘fly by’ screen projection.

Outside, tours of the Greyfriars grounds pointed out where the building will be situated, and explained how the £20,000 for the meaningful start was spent.

Groups and societies already linked to the community centre were also on hand to help show off the diverse range of activities which take place at Greyfriars – and which will benefit from the Arts Centre’s improved facilities.

Canapés provided by Greyfriars volunteers and a free bar kindly sponsored by Ringwood Brewery helped the sunny evening go with a swing.
